There’s a land at Universal’s Islands of Adventure that most people don’t know about. The reason for this is that you can’t get there by buying a ticket — you have to be a candidate!

11 x 14, Gouache on canvas panel

Look, I painted something!

If comics are my meat an’ potatoes, painting is my dessert. I don’t do a lot of painting because of the mess and the clean-up, but there’s nothing like tossing on some music and slapping color on a canvas.

She just appeared like a ninja on the pages of my sketchbook yesterday. What shall I name her? Any ideas?

caticonslite_bm_altSC-F: Robot of Tomorrow

6/06/2012

If you’ve been tracking with my blog, you’re probably aware that I’m working on something called ‘Skiff and Rusty.’ You might be informed that one of the main characters is a robot named Skiff. What you might NOT know is that Skiff is actually a nickname derived from SC-F, the newest classification of patrol droid engaged by the Cardinal Federation.

This week’s Illustration Friday dovetails nicely with some preliminary work I’m doing for Skiff and Rusty. I’ve drawn this sequence a few times, trying to get it right – it’s definitely one of the harder things I’ve attempted.

The idea is that the person on the left vanishes just as their hands touch, but I need to stay on a close-up of just the hands. Any ideas how I could draw this so that it reads more clearly?
